My Wife Was Stretching And Heard A Ripping Sound In

My wife was stretching and heard a ripping sound in the left side of her neck that "felt really weird". Now her neck, shoulder, head and arm hurt, and she has a headache. She says it hurts pretty bad, though we can't really afford to go to the doctor. Any ideas on what it might be, and what we might do?
