My Wife Went In The Backyard 2 Days Ago And

My wife went in the backyard 2 days ago and cut a tree branch hanging over the fence, After cutting the branches, she said they rub on her leg and it felt like fibreglass spikes all over her legs for the entire night. Next day it started itching with little rash. I am wondering could this be mosquito?
