My Wife's MRI Of The Spine Shows "disc Dessication &

My wife's MRI of the spine shows "disc dessication & rt side posterior focal bulge with mild compression of rt L5 traversing nerve root. She has been experiencing pain in her hip (specially left side) when lying down for some time now. The doctor has diagnosed that the bulge (mentioned above) is causing her this pain and has prescribed Neugaba 75 mg every night for 15 days along with a calcium tablet(one tablet a week).
Will this treatment completely cure the cause or are we treating only the symptom?
