OK I Have Visible Swelling On The Lower Left Side

OK I have visible swelling on the lower left side of my spine at the very bottom. I can feel that it is swollen. My leg hurts from the hip down to the ankle. Recently i could not even put pressure on my left Leg. It sounds like cauda equina symptom. I had disc surgery on S5 L1 9 years ago. Can this be healed without surgery?
