Ok, I had my annual bloodwork and physical done yesterday, and got a good report except for my platelet count was low, if I understood correctly, was 42. I have had a slight history of low platelet count but this time made my doctor insist I go to a hematologist and look into the problem. I have no problem clotting when cut, do not bruise easily and I lead an active lifestyle. I am rarely sick other than perhaps a cold occasionally. I did have arthroscopic knee surgery last August, but no complications. To my recollection, this low platelet count was noticed by my family doctors and monitored since around 2005
