On April 12th I was given antibiotics in preparation for an April 19th prostate biopsy. The procedure was done on the 19th of April. On April 29 the results came back saying I had prostate cancer. On the morning of May 1st I work up with a swollen right testicle (tennis ball sized) and went to the emergency room. The ER gave me additional antibiotics. I talked to the urologist who preformed the procedure the next day on May 2nd. He changed antibiotics and said that I had an infection in that area. On May 12th I woke up again with my right testicle swollen approx 6" long and 3" in diameter. I was able to make it to the ER the second time. And they gave me even more antibiotics by IV. Again the next day I contacted the urologists and he said to keep my normal appt which was the next day 13th. He gave me enough antibiotics for one more week 20th of May. He said that he was concerned about resistance to the medication. From the 13th through the 20th the testicle went back down to the size slightly smaller than a tennis ball. On the 25th, I called his office to confirm an appt and was told by the front desk that she was in the process of rescheduling all of his appointments because (a) they were moving his office to another location, and (b) he was going on vacation for two weeks while all this was going on. Sorry, no slot available until he returns. This morning I woke up with a pain in my right testicle. But it was only on the bottom of the testicle, the top is hard and has no feeling in it.
Sooo, I'm not on antibiotics, my right testicle is swollen and partially numb, and the urologist will not be back for another two weeks. What do I do in the meantime?
