On December 24th I Was Operating A Tractor Powered Snowblower

On December 24th I was operating a tractor powered snowblower and while backing up the tractor bounced as I traveled over some uneven pavement. At the time I felt something in my back "popped." It was acccompanied by a moderate pain in the lower back which quickly diminished. When I got into the house I noticed that I was obviously drawn over to the right. With all of the attendant demands of the holiday season I deferred treatment until the new year. By January 3rd I was in severe pain which radiated down my left leg making sleep very difficult. My internist prescribed 4mg flight of prednisone and Tylenol 3 for pain that didn't do a thing to alleviate my pain. PT was then prescribed which also has not done much to improve the situation. My internist said he was going to make an appointment at the local physical medicine office but to date have heard nothing. Is there another protocol that should be pursued or is this the preferred method of treating this condition? It seems to me with the symptoms I'm presenting that X-rays, or MRI should have been a priority? What more can I do, or do I need to look for another physician with more empathy? Thank you.
