One Week Ago I Fell In The Bath And Banged

One week ago I fell in the bath and banged my left side on the bath. I knew I had hurt my ribs but carried on as normal. After 2 days the pain got worse. I am getting an x ray to rule out break/fracture. The pain is manageable but when I press my breastbone it cracks and under my arm near my left breast it also cracks. What is this cracking? It is as if something is rubbing together or over each other. It feels like there is something moving?
