Our of pocket medical expenses as a couple on a fixed income is now over $2500.00 per month. We live on a fixed income in our early 60's and certainly never thought we would be spending our retirement in this manner. I have severe fibromyalgia for 30 years, Severe migraines and severe low back pain, depression and anxiety. I am being treated by the appropriate physicians for these disorders. However, they have settled into a maintenance routine which leaves us financially strapped as well as quality of life is poor. I have taken a couple of doses of Kava Kava that my brother brought me and it is helpful. I am afraid to approach my doctors with this and feel that I could potentially give up the Naproxen 440 mg. that I take twice a day, Lyrica 300 mg twice a day , clonopine 2 mg daily and trazadone 200mg if I used the Kava Kava daily. Could it ever be appropriate to pursue this kind of treatment??
