Over The Past Few Days, My Lacrimal Caruncle Has Been

Over the past few days, my lacrimal caruncle has been red and the area around my eye near my lacrimal caruncle is swollen. I tried doing warm compresses because I thought it was a stye or chalazion but i've had those before and know the syptoms so I know that wasn't it. It hurts every time I blink and when I touch the swollen area, it hurts and feels tender. What can be the problem?
