Over The Past Several Weeks I've Been Having Some Increasing

Over the past several weeks I've been having some increasing sourness in my left Achilles tendon. Last evening I found a knot like hard place. It is quite discomforting. Very sore to the touch. I've also noticed the left tendon has a different feel than the right. It seems more hardened or the right seems more flexible. What should I be concerned about?
