Pain In My Right Knee. It Runs Along The Outside

Pain in my right knee. It runs along the outside of the kneecap from just below the kneecap to just above. It's a sharp pain that occurs when I bend the knee. It happens intermittently and it has been happening for about the last month. When it occurs, the pain is about 6-7 out of 10, but, it only lasts momentarily and then it goes away. No hindrance to walking or golfing or anything else. I'm 63 years old, 6'1", 195 lbs.
