Please Help, My Mom Started Coughing About A Week Ago,

Please help, my mom started coughing about a week ago, 3 nights ago she started making these horrible involuntary groans before falling asleep and these groans keeps her from falling asleep. The doctor gave her cough meds, and pain pills coz of all the coughing and antibiotics. Please help, will these groans stop once the coughing stops and her chest is better? It breaks my heart hearing her. It can go on for hours.
