Quite Often, My Doctor Has Prescribed Norflox TX, Orni-O And

Quite often, my doctor has prescribed Norflox TX, Orni-O and such similar antibiotic combinations for loose motions. My question is, are antibiotics really needed for general loose motions? I understand that if there is a amoebic infection then it is required. But otherwise, isn't a bland diet and ORS sufficient?
