Recently Began Experiencing Edema In Feet And Hands. Recent Physical

Recently began experiencing edema in feet and hands. Recent physical was fine with no problems noted in blood work. Do have hypertension and over weight. Retired five months ago with less exercise and some weight gain. Also experiencing heartburn for first time in life. What could my problem be and should I go back to my doctor?
