Recently Diagnosed With Shingles. Given Anti Viral (valtrex) And Prednisone.

Recently diagnosed with shingles. Given anti viral (valtrex) and prednisone. However I was sent to a dermatologist who feels I should also be taking an anti biotic. Even my pharmacist was surprised at this. I know it's because a portion on my skin was warm to touch. And I also mentioned that I keep getting a head/hairline swear & it's bothersome.
I haven't started the antibiotic, what are your comments on this?
