Recently My Pain Management Doctor Took Me Off Of 10

Recently my pain management doctor took me off of 10 mg hydrocodone 3 times a day to oxycodone 10 mg 3 times a day due to the hydrocodone wasn't helping any longer. How do I let my doctor know that 3 a day just isn't enough. If I could get him to prescribe me one extra a day it would be great. Trying to space the meds out that far apart is getting difficult to keep the pain under control. I did have surgery on my back about 10 years ago and the pain is worse now than before.
