Several Years Ago I Was Dignified With A 1 Cm

Several years ago I was dignified with a 1 cm linear erosion of the oesophagus. I was put on pariet daily, I am now looking at having weight loss surgery and was wondering if the pariet cures the erosion or just masks it. I am no longer on medication for severe reflux, but I just want to know if the erosion would have completely gone?
