Should I Be Concerned About A Curtain Effect In Left Peripheral Vision And Occasional Lightning Bolt-like Flashes In Right Peripheral Vision?

Eye question(s). I m approaching 70 yrs of age. Recently I have noticed 2 phenomena... (1) left eye -- a small curtain effect in the outside peripheral vision area, nothing permanent, just a moving shadow which goes down and/or up on the side of my vision, very random. (2) a periodic lightning bolt in the outside peripheral vision area of my right eye, once or twice a day, totally random. I have not had an eye exam for a while (5 years or so)
