Should I Be Tested For Pregnancy If The Earlier Menstruation Was Light?

Hi, I recently decided to take a pregnancy test based on gut feeling. I thought it would be negative since my period wasn't due for another week and a half. I remembered that last month on October 15th I had a three day 'period'. This is unusually short for me. Is it possible I am farther along than I think?
