Should A Pulmonologist Be Consulted For Chronic Bronchitis?

Is there any danger in not pursuing more aggressive treatment for chronic bronchitis? I am on 2 inhalers but have developed a more productive cough over the last year. I did see my primary and my chest X-ray was OK. She said I could go to a pulmonologist if I wished but I haven't done it yet.
