Should Medication For Constipation Be Continued Along With Pain Medication?

I went to ER last Wed because const. Took catscan and every and no blockage (history of a twisted colon last year). They told me to just use enema and citrus nitrate. Did have 2 episodes of watery stool and no more. I have had 2 bottles nitrate, 2 enemas, Lots of Fibre one, two daily doses of Metamucil, and 3 of the shots I have to take for constipation because of pain Med for spinal arthritis and severe neck pain. I do not really have pain, except feeling full (of course). My question: I am 77 in FL, away from my MD. Should I keep up this over the top treatment for constipation? I am 77 and do have a conp history but always in colon. This seems to be way up and very slowly moving. I do get a bit of color on tissue! Am I going to be OK for 3-4 more days until I can get a Dr appt, or go back to ER, where they did not help? Any other lax you know of that is sure thing? Thank you so much.
