Should Recurring Enlarged Tonsils Be Permanently Removed?

As a child I remember having strep thoat alot. I have always had large tonsils with big pockets that fill up with white stuff. I gargle alot.
In the early 90's I had my tonsils trimmed by lazer surgery to redduce my tonsils and eliminate the pockets. At 50 they are back. When I swallow I feel like I am going to choke. Shoudl I have my tonsils removed for good.
