Should Suppression Therapy Be Taken For Asymptomatic Herpes Simplex?

Unfortunately, my blood test came back four years ago with a positive for herpes simplex 11 gig. Since I am asymptomatic my doctor incorrectly told me it could not be transmitted. So far In have not given it to my partner. Should I talk suppression therapy now?
