Should The Knot Left From Stitches Be Removed?

After a c-section I had dissolving stitches. That was a year ago, I had some aches and my scar kind of folded over itself. My dr said he felt a knot left from stitches that did not dissolve. Do I have to have them removed? It really doesnt hurt, sometimes it kind of aches it was worse like a few months after the surgery but I dont really notice it now
