Since early adulthood I have always had a problem with contact dermatitis. I have to be careful to use gloves if I handle any household cleaners or just something as simple as washing dishes. The last few years it seems to have lessened somewhat on my hands; but I now experience a problem with the bottom of my feet. I always make sure I wash and rinse and dry my feet thoroughly when showering. I only wear white of light colored socks and try to do everything possible to try to remedy. it will start as sort of a blistering which will eventually itch and weep. After, that i have several layers of dry cracked, dead skin which last for weeks and then the cycle repeats itself. Often times, it will make walking very painful. Unfortunately, the only relief beside prescribed topical steroids, is a round of Prednisone for a few weeks. I know that is a bad solution. I have tried virtually every OTC remedy available.
> My Primary Care Doc is at a loss for a solution, although He has theorized it could be dietary related. I eat extremely healthy, or so I believe. He suggested I try some probiotics. I've also been to what is supposed to be the best Dermatology Practice in East Tennessee. Seemingly, they are only able to treat the symptoms, and want me to make regular visits. I would be willing to try anything at this point. I am a 60 year old male in otherwise excellent health. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this.
