So I Broke My Toe When I Was Perhaps Four,

So I broke my toe when I was perhaps four, we come to decide that perhaps I also tore a ligament as well. Though of all my years of working with children, I've been noticing that it becomes numb and uncomfortable. Is there something to this? I'm not too worried, just very curious to if I should be concerned or just ignore it.
