So I Just Got A Cat, An Older Cat. He

So I just got a cat, an older cat. He is sweet and really makes me feel a little happier. I spent with him at least 4 to 5 hours. Got only a few allergy symptoms itchy nose and sneezing and runny nose. Took my meds and feel a little better. My seasonal allergies are worse than my animal one I think.... so is it okay to wait it out? By taking claritine can I fix it over time? I know this is a silly question. But I dont feel so lonly anymore. Also he is totally not staying in my room. Please help. Thank you
