So I've Has A "hard Cough" For A About A

So I've has a "hard cough" for a about a week now. When a coughing episode occurs ( several times a day) it's such a hard cough that I'm getting pain on the right side of my stomach area parallel to my belly button. Almost seems like it should be a strained muscle, but I'm not so sure cause the pain is only when coughing..please advise . Thanks
