Sometime In The Middle Of The Night, I Woke Up

Sometime in the middle of the night, I woke up to a stinging in my largest toe which got worse when I bent my toe. It shows only a tiny red spot kind of like a pin prick with a tiny dot of pink around it. It is stinging about 1 time every 30 seconds that is moving up my leg; there is no apparant swelling or discoloration anywhere but at the pin prick mark; cortizone is not helping at all. Is there something I can do to help this?
