Sudden onset of purple thumb. It's the pad. Swollen - skin feels stretched and hard. Slightly warm. It's been about 1 hour. Did some minor work around the house, but no notice of injury.

This happened once before a few years ago and resolved itself with color disappearing gradually over 2-3 days.

I'm a senior with no major health problems with the exception of being treated for elevated cholesterol.
