Suggest A Non Surgical Treatment For Recurring Ear Discharge In A Child

I have read the queries on acute otitis media and their replies from different doctors. My son is 7 years old and he has been treated for recurring ear discharge around 6 times in this year. Now the ENT doctor has advised to go for a surgical treatment.I would like to know whether it has treatment other than surgery
