Suggest A Remedy For Pain After Chemotherapy Sessions

My sister was diagnosed with lung cancer, stage 3, in October of 2010. After each of the two chemotherapy sessions, she has experience severe pain, after the first session on an arm and after the second session in the back of a knee. This latest pain appeared yesterday and is unbearable today. Is this due to the treatment and, besides pain killers, is there any home remedy which could alleviate the great discomfort?
