Suggest Alternate Medication For Gabapentin Post Inguinal Hernia Surgery

I ve been prescribed with gabapentin following a inguinal hernia surgery 6 months ago. The Gabapentin didn t make a difference for me and i recently stopped taking them and feel no different than when i was taking them. however I still experience pain from time to time around the wound. Pain varies from soreness to burning sensation. it was an open surgery with mesh used. Are there alternatives to gabapentin that could work better and help me heal quicker, not just hide the pain away.
