Suggest Home Remedies For Strained Hip And Leg

I think I strained my left side- side of hip, front of upper leg, and into front calf after pulling my garage door up too fast manually. I've had the pain for a week. It comes and goes during the day and is mild to moderate, but at night I get shooting pains even with taking three Advil, after about 4 hours. Should I see a doctor or alternatives at home?
