Suggest Medication For Cloudy Ear Causing A High Pitched Noise

Hi. I am a 42 year old female and have a constant buzzing high pitched noise in my left ear.The doctor has told me that my ear is cloudy.What does he mean by this? Could it just be an infection or am I likely to be stuck with this constant noise which is sending me insane.Thanks for your help Sian
