Suggest Medication For Elevated BP In A Diabetic Patient

My mother-in-law, aged 79 years, takes Minipress-5mg daily at night. Yesterday, her BP rose to 212/109, after getting excited out of some arguments in the afternoon. She was not administered any extra medicine, other than nightrest-5mg to have sound sleep. Today in the morning, her BP was recorded as 189/90. Can we administer Amtas-5 now? She is diabetic patient as well.
