Suggest Medication For Sore Throat

I was diagnosed with tonsilitis 6 days ago. I was prescribed an antibiotic to take 3x a day for 10 days. Around day 3 I woke with conjunctivitis symptoms. At the onset I had upper respiratory symptoms too; which have since cleared nicely. The conjunctivitis symptoms are gone as well. But this sore throat! It's waking me at night, and it feels raw. Why is the sore throat lasting so long! (It does abate with gargling and OTC pain meds, ibuprophen)
