Suggest Medication For Treating Shingles On Trunk

Have torso Shingles since April 3. Doctor prescribed treating with wet compression followed when dry with Calomine lotion or sanitised cream. I alternate treatment using Savlon antiseptic cream, Also prescribed Panadeine for pain relief ( Codiene phosphate 8mgs, Paracetamol 500mgs ), maximum 6 per 24hrs. However the panadiene it would appear caused severe constipation requiring use of suppositories. Doctor then prescribed Amitriptyline 25mgs; twice per day which has cleared the constipation. but now I experience abject sleepiness. I am in my 92 year. Would appreciate any thoughts you may have
