Suggest Remedy For An Eye Sty

I have a sty and was wondering if polymyxin-B will help with some hot compresses.
I am a school teacher and had pink eye in the opposite eye and I have left over medication that I have been using now to help. I have also have been treating with hot compresses also. How does it take to go away?
