Suggest Remedy For Congestion And Discomfort In Throat

I went to my doctor as well as the E.R.over discomfort in my throat.All which said i have allergies.I had a thyroid test done as well and it came back great.This has been going on for about three weeks now.It feels like i have a hair ball in my throat that I can't cough up.Sometimes it will go away and then it comes back.what do I need to do?
