My husband's PSA is 4.7, down from 5.0 after antibiotic treatment. As of 1 month ago.He had his knee replaced on Dec. 27, when going in, surgeon found his bones to be soft as oatmeal. DEXA scan showed severe osteoporosis. He is 58, does not drink, smoke, is not overweight, avid cyclist and very active. Today, his PC3 A( urin test for prostate cancer ) came back positive. He has been taking testosterone shots for about 5 weeks, due to testosterone level of 33. Yes, 33. He has complained of bone pain of and on for a couple of years, and is still complaining of pain in bone of leg that did not recieve knee replacement. Does DEXA scan detect cancer in bones or just osteoporosis ??
