Suggest Remedy For Dark Skin

Hello Doctors,
I have got a dark tanned skin (specially exposed areas of hands and face) due to my carelessness of about 4 years.. now when i started taking care of it and tried so many home remedies it was of no use.. nothing is working for me... :( One of my friends suggested to try Tenovate M cream on a small part of hands' tanned area.. would it really do?? If u can suggest me any other option also, it would be helpful.
