Suggest Remedy For Diarrhea When Suffering From Crohns Disease

I am trying to help my brother who is far away in Hawaii at a subpar medical center of sorts, very sick and malnourished with Crohns. Finally agreed to take Asacol again and unfortunately in order to minimize his symptoms of bloody diarrhea throughout the night that interrupts his much needed sleep, he has opted to take all of his pills at 1 time in the morning. I am wondering if there is a consequence to this, if they are timed release or similar and this is not beneficial. I doubt he will change his mind but needed to ask.
