Suggest Remedy For Ear Infection In Elderly

Hi! My father who is 70 years old has had an ear infection 2 weeks ago and has been taking antibiotics for this as advised by Take Care clinic. He is also using a form of ear drops. He says it doesn't feel as it is getting better but feels more swollen. He is also having difficulty hearing from that ear. Is this common in older adults recovering from an ear infection...what should be our next step?
