Suggest Remedy For Eardrum Infection And Ear Blockage

Hi, I saw a question answered about a hollow sound heard when the head is tapped. This being caused by an ear blockage. I currently have an eardrum infection, the doctor has given me tablets. However, I have now discovered this hollow sound when I tap my head. Is it bad/severe? And will it stop when the ear is unblocked?
