Suggest Remedy For Elevated Potassium Levels Causing Tingly Feet And Legs

I am having weird sensations in my feet and lower legs and overly cold, tingly feet, especially at night. Also, two blood tests have shown my potassium level to be elevated, a 5.8. Any ideas on the causes and possible remedies? I am seeing my internist in a few days but am worried about this.
