Suggest Remedy For Emotional Issues Caused From Pain Medications

hi my brother had knee replacement surgery , both knees. however. he is experiencing emotional problems from the pain medication. its like he is losing is mind. the doctors have tried a lot of different meds. but to no avail. my brother is 71 years old. he was ok mentally before surgery. what can we do/
