Suggest Remedy For Infection Of Ingrown Toenail

I had my toenail removed last friday. I had to return on monday because the infection from my ingrown toenail will not drain out. Now that I am taking antibiotics and pain killers is there anything that I need to watch for? Also, how often should I apply anitbiotic ointment?
