I have one fingernail on the ring finger of my right hand where the nail has a depression in it from the cuticle to the tip. It is not painful just malformed. The tissue just behind the cuticle has raised mass of soft tissue. Its from under this mass that the axis of the malformation protrudes. What causes this and is a correction of this problem painful ?
